ENCODE Furniture© was founded by a group of internationally acclaimed designers and architects, who have developed a distinct edge in digital design and fabrication. With a network of collaborators and research partners spanning across 3 continents, our award-winning designers have lectured, exhibited and conducted collaboration projects with partners in Alexandria, London, Vienna, Paris and Beijing over the past few years only.

Is an architect, teacher assistant and researcher at at the University of Alexandria, Egypt as well as the International University for Technology and Natural Sciences (ETH Zurich), Switzerland.Zaghloul’s research interest focuses on Generative Design systems, whereby designs are generated using mathematical algorithms. In this context, he took part of “A new kind of science” Summer School at the Wolfram Science School in Boston in 2012, tutored by Professor Stephen Wolfram, the global pioneer on knowledge-based programming.
One of Zaghloul’s most noticeable achievements in this field to date is the development of “Mantis”, a software tool which allows interaction between “Grasshopper”, the world’s leading graphical algorithm editor, and Wolfram’s “Mathematica” computational software program.Zaghloul curated and contributed to multiple research workshops at some of the world’s most prestigious research institutions, including the Vienna University of Technology, TU Wien (TUW), and the Advances in Architectural Geometry (AAG) symposium, London.
Is an architect who graduated from the Architecture Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Alexandria in 2001. She started working in 2001 as a full time designer in furniture design and fabrication at View Galley (family business). in 2006, she started her architecture design career at Abougad Architects, one of the leading architecture firms in Alexandria. In 2012, she joined Encode team with her previous experience in furniture design, fabrication and architecture design. She is currently a researcher in the University of Alexandria, preparing her Masters Degree in architecture.
Is an architect. Abdelkhalek has been awarded several competitions and scholarships including: the first prize of Catalyst for Change and Construction Aware Design workshop at the American University in Cairo (AUC), in addition to many other international workshops in cooperation with the Bauhaus university and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus.
Is an architect, teacher assistant and researcher at the University of Alexandria, Egypt . Dawood has been awrded several international competitions and scholarships including: the AA London Visiting School workshop, New Urban Typologies Workshop in Alexandria, the Advanced Architectural Geometry workshop in Vienna, Austria, Construction Aware Design workshop at at the American University in Cairo (AUC), in addition to many other international workshops in cooperation with the Bauhaus university and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus.

Egypt’s Design + Industry Competition is organized by the Egyptian Furniture Export Council with the aim of attracting creative power of Egyptian furniture designers and linking them to the country’s leading industry players.
Hassan Fathy Award, Library of Alexandria
The Hassan Fathy Award is organized annually by the Library of Alexandria in in collaboration with the Egyptian Supreme Council for Culture, with the aim of promoting contemporary Egyptian architecture, and honor Egyptian architects. Since its inception in 2009, the Hassan Fathy Award has established itself as the country’s most prestigious accolade in the fields of design and architecture. The theme of the 2012 edition was “New Comprehensive Developments and Cityscapes”.
SaloneSatellite, Salone Internazionale del Mobile
The Salone del Mobile is the global benchmark for the Home Furnishing Sector since 1961. In 1998, the SaloneSatellite was created for the express purpose of bringing together the most promising young designers from all over the world with the most important business people and talent scouts gathered in Milan to visit or exhibit at the Salone del Mobile. The Satellite immediately became an unparallelled observatory of young international creativity. Each year, over 700 young designers and students of the most prestigious design schools and universities exhibit and exchange ideas at this unique showcase.

Is an architect and associate Professor at Faculty of Fine Arts, department of Architecture of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University.
Farid has led the creation of a multi-disciplinary design network between many local and international disciplines, along with local factories, with the aim of developing the industry in Egypt through research. Farid has masterminded and orchestrated a number of multi-disciplinary workshops to explore new grounds for the architectural practice through computational tools and her research interests lies in Design education. She is investigating various digital and physical computational tools exploring the potentials of digital design and fabrication techniques to correlate education, profession and design industry.
Farid received her PhD in architecture from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University, around Mass Customization and the Future of Housing. She has contributed in many international and local conferences and forums including: The Bellum Bridge, The Future City and the Architectural & Urban Forum (AUFO).
Farid has also won many local and international competitions including the First prize for the Rehabilitation of Sednaoui Al Khazendar and the Khazendar Square (Egypt) and the First Prize of the architectural competition to design the new campus of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Alexandria (Egypt).
Is an architect, teacher assistant and researcher at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture (ENSA), Paris, France as well as the University of Alexandria, Egypt.
Hussein received his Masters of Architecture with distinctions in 2011 from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London (AA), one of the most prestigious architecture schools in the world. His thesis project, Sandworks, was received enthusiastically by the international jury at the final review, due to its ideological and performative merits. As such, it was awarded a Project Distinction, the highest and rarest recognition of achievement possible within the AA’s Design Research Lab (DRL) program.
Hussein lectured and conducted research workshops around digital and computational design in London, Beijing, and Alexandria. He is the laureate of multiple prestigious local and international design awards, including the First Prize at the furniture design competition organized by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the First Prize of the architectural competition to design the new campus of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Alexandria (Egypt), and the first prize in the International Competition for the Rehabilitation of Alexandria’s Waterfront.
